– Scripture:

‘He pulled away from them about a stone’s throw, knelt down, and prayed, “Father, remove this cup from me. But please, not what I want. What do you want?” At once an angel from heaven was at his side, strengthening him. He prayed on all the harder. Sweat, wrung from him like drops of blood, poured off his face. ‘

– Reflection:

                My Will, His Will

One of the most powerful prayers we can say is, “God, not my will, but Your will be done.” When things are not going as we want or when our prayers are not being answered according to our desires, it means that God is guarding us from upcoming danger, it’s not the right time, or God has something better planned for us. Often, we are short-sighted, but God knows what’s best for us. He sees the big picture and understands when something will lead to a dead end or when someone will distract us from our destiny.

Where do we go from here?

Some of the things that may be frustrating you right now, you will look back on in ten years and be thankful that things didn’t work out the way you wanted or that certain opportunities didn’t open up. This is what having faith is all about. Why not trust in God? Believe that He has you in the palm of His hand, and have confidence that when it’s time for God to open a door, no one can keep it shut.

Our Prayer for Today

“Father, thank you for knowing what’s best for us, especially when it comes to the things we want and ask for. Thank you for guiding our steps and leading us through the things we don’t understand. We choose to rest in faith, knowing that we are in the palms of your hands. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
