– Scripture:
‘He told another story. “God’s kingdom is like a farmer who planted good seed in his field. That night, while his hired men were asleep, his enemy sowed thistles all through the wheat and slipped away before dawn. When the first green shoots appeared and the grain began to form, the thistles showed up, too. “The farmhands came to the farmer and said, ‘Master, that was clean seed you planted, wasn’t it? Where did these thistles come from?’ “He answered, ‘Some enemy did this.’ “The farmhands asked, ‘Should we weed out the thistles?’ “He said, ‘No, if you weed the thistles, you’ll pull up the wheat, too. Let them grow together until harvest time. Then I’ll instruct the harvesters to pull up the thistles and tie them in bundles for the fire, then gather the wheat and put it in the barn.’”’
Matthew 13:24,27-29
– Reflection:
Weeds
Jesus tells a story about a man who planted wheat. He sowed good seed, doing the right thing. But while he slept, an enemy came and planted weeds in his soil that sprang up among his wheat. As big a problem as that was, the good news is that the weeds could not keep the wheat from being harvested, and the weeds were destroyed. I have heard this story many different times and have not really understood it until this morning. God has placed us in a great place where we have everything we need to grow properly; nothing else is required. There will be people who can cause trouble for you during the growth time, as a child, as a teen, and as an adult. Accepting Jesus into our lives won’t get those weeds away from us but will give us an understanding of how we should live.
Where do we go from here?
The message is that unexpected challenges, troubles, and difficulties may arise even when you are doing the right things, honoring God, and striving to be your best every day. When you are close to achieving success, facing a breakthrough, or entering a season of abundance, unexpected problems may appear as obstacles. Stay confident, for our God brings unexpected favor, breakthroughs, and promotion. Trust in God to take care of it for you. These challenges cannot hinder you from reaching your God-given destiny.
Our Prayer for Today
“Father, thank you for your blessings that will come to fruition in our lives at the right time. We are grateful that we can wait with hope, knowing that you will take care of any obstacles. Please help use to be patient and have faith in your constant work. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
