- Scripture:
Stop Striving
Attention, all! See the marvels of God! He plants flowers and trees all over the earth, Bans war from pole to pole, and breaks all the weapons across his knee. “Step out of the traffic! Take a long, loving look at me, your High God, above politics, above everything.”
Psalm 46:8–10 MSG
- Reflection:
It’s easy to go through life thinking we have to make everything happen—make our business grow, make ourselves get well, make our child do right. There’s this constant pressure to fix something and improve in some area, so we live striving, trying to force doors to open, do better, and work harder. There’s no rest, no peace inside. You weren’t created to live that way. As long as you’re in this striving mode, trying to fix everything, you’re not going to know that He’s God, and you’re not going to see His favor and goodness as you should.
Where do we go from here?
It’s very freeing when you realize that if we keep God first place, He’ll bring what we need. All striving does is wear you out, causing you to feel overwhelmed, keeping you awake at night, and giving you stomach issues. Take the pressure off. You can’t make people do what’s right, make your coworker like you, and turn your finances around. Your job is to be your best each day, honor God and will bring dreams to pass.
Our Prayer for Today
Father, thank You that we can stop striving and know You are God. Help us to stop trying to change what only You can change and stop trying to fix things over which we have no control. We declare that we're going to stay in peace and know that You are in control. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
