– Reflection:

                Get Used to Responsibility

The way many things function today doesn’t align with the natural flow of life. I’m not just talking about how things are supposed to be according to a higher power, but simple things like using common sense when navigating through your neighborhood or city. Let’s start with something small like that. When I observe parents walking in my neighborhood, they are focused on their tasks and are on track to complete them. On the other hand, our younger generation is often so engrossed in their phones that they wouldn’t even notice if a van pulled up beside them. It’s important to be aware of your surroundings and the environment you’re in. I’ve mentioned the negative impact of technology on our youth in the past, but it’s even worse than I had realized. While work and technology are essential and provide employment and careers, they shouldn’t be abused in the way they are today. Just as we were created for a purpose, the next generation was created for something more. Perhaps part of our responsibility is to encourage them to be more active and less dependent on their phones.

Where do we go from here?

Technology is a blessing, but too much of it can be overwhelming. It’s important to take some time away from screens and engage in other activities. I recently observed this during a vacation when kids around us were constantly using their cell phones because they had packages granted to them on a cruise. My friends and I chose not to have access to such packages and it felt really refreshing. Moving forward, it’s important to teach young people about responsibility, just as we were taught. This approach helped us, and it can be beneficial for them too.

Our Prayer for Today

“Father, we thank you for the knowledge and care you have given us as parents. Help us to honor the work you have given us and allow us to pass it along to our children. If we continue to fail them and allow them to live in a state of uselessness, we will all be in a mess. Thank you for the blessing of work and the responsibility it brings. May we pass this along to our children as well. Amen.”
