               Cover Up

The passage above describes how David reflected on his declining health in the year following his affair with Bathsheba and the subsequent killing of her husband to conceal it. He deceived himself, suppressed feelings of guilt and shame, and pretended that everything was fine. However, burying negative emotions can harm the soul and eventually manifest as physical illness. Eventually, David admitted his wrongdoing and asked God for forgiveness and purification, saying, “Create in me a clean heart.” The beauty of God lies in His forgiveness and mercy. He forgave David, restored his soul, and healed his physical health.

Where do we go from here?

“Don’t let guilt and condemnation from something that you’ve done wrong in the past keep your soul unhealthy, hold you back, or weaken you physically. Get honest with yourself and get the toxins out. Go to God as David did and ask Him to forgive you, to cleanse your heart, to restore your soul and your health. Receive His mercy.”

Our Prayer for Today

“Father, thank You that we can receive Your forgiveness and have a clean heart today. Thank You that we can be honest about any sin and any mistake and get the toxins of guilt and bitterness out of our soul. Help me to walk in the joy of our salvation and in the fullness of health. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
