- Scripture:

Simon said, “Master, we’ve been fishing hard all night and haven’t caught even a minnow. But if you say so, I’ll let out the nets.” It was no sooner said than done—a huge haul of fish, straining the nets past capacity. They waved to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. They filled both boats, nearly swamping them with the catch.

Blessings that Break Nets

For many of us, doing what we are asked can be a tough thing to follow. Somehow our way always seems to come before what was asked. For Simon, though, he just pushed out to deeper water and pulled in a load of fish of a lifetime. It went against everything he knew about fishing since he and a few other fishermen had just come in from the water and had caught nothing. Jesus asked him to push out, and he did; the rest is a miracle we get to read in the bible. God placed the provision, the blessing, and the person to be blessed right where everyone could see it happen. It wasn't hidden; it was right out in the open, and the area had just been fished.

Where do we go from here?

Are you being asked to do a hard thing? Don't talk yourself out of going out into deeper waters. We won't ever reach our destinies splashing around close to the shore; we have to accept some of the harder things that are being asked of us to see him move in our lives. When you pass that test, you will start to see those moments that will thrust you into your purpose. If you could see it and what it would take to get there, you would be discouraged. That's why you have to just start walking with him, and he will get you there gradually.

Our Prayer for Today

Father, thank You for the dreams and desires that You put in us that are bigger than we can achieve. It looks too big for us; nevertheless, I know that with You, all things are possible. We believe that when we go out into the deep, You will bring us huge net-breaking blessings. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
