Watching TV or a movie today, no matter the sexual denomination, can be different today. There was a time when the gay person, the down-low person, the transgender person, etc., had to hide their emotions and were not represented in any space. To be honest, looking back; we were living a lie. This type of community has been here since Jesus and probably before. The slang that so many of us have used to describe them negatively or in fun has been wrong but accepted.

Television and Movies now give a space for everyone, and the uncomfortableness that we heterosexual people feel is wrong. Nobody should have to hide; they should be cared for just as we are; even though the Bible states the incorrectness of the choice, these are still people. Just as we want to be heard, so do they. No one has the market cornered on respect and love. Support is something else, just like understanding; currently, neither side nor any group from any denomination is listening to anything. Everyone is speaking to speak. No listening is involved at this point. To support you, a person that means a lot to you would have your best interest at heart and want to see you do well even if you guys don’t agree. To understand states that I have been where you are and can relate to a degree. In those definitions, neither side is listening or reading the other’s definitions of how support and understanding are achieved for the different types of people we have here on this earth in each and every country, state, and city. Television and Movies used to be the place where everyone joined to see people like themselves. Now everyone needs to be represented the way they want to be recognized individually, and are fighting hard to have their way instead of just watching and imagining the way the movies or television shows used to. Togetherness is becoming a distant memory with all the different people in-fighting everywhere. The Internet has become a big argument that is misunderstood and angry all the time. It used to be a place where you could go read an article about something or someone and have inspiration from what was just read. Now even the most likable people are vilified and torn down. If Jesus walked the earth today, he would probably say that a lot has happened, but a lot has definitely stayed the same. The difference would be that he would get straight to work trying to heal the world again, like so many of us are not doing.

There is a war going on for the hearts and minds of this world, and they are being given away for a space on television or in a movie to represent the person you think you are, not the person GOD created you to be. The yelling, the cursing, the lewd acts, all of this is a poor representation of who we as the human race is supposed to be. The world has changed, and even though we have things that help us live better (technology), we, the people, are not better.
