Devotional

1I, Peter, am an apostle on assignment by Jesus, the Messiah, writing to exiles scattered to the four winds. Not one is missing, not one forgotten.
2God the Father has his eye on each of you, and has determined by the work of the Spirit to keep you obedient through the sacrifice of Jesus. May everything good from God be yours!
3What a God we have! And how fortunate we are to have him, this Father of our Master Jesus! Because Jesus was raised from the dead, we’ve been given a brand-new life and have everything to live for,

                             1 Peter 1:1–3 (MSG)
Peter’s message reminds us that faith isn’t just something we practice on our best days; it sustains us through the scattered, stressful, and uncertain days, too. Many of us know what it feels like to be stretched thin, managing work, family, responsibilities, and the quiet battles no one sees. Sometimes life makes us feel like exiles ourselves, pulled far from where we expected to be. But Peter’s words cut through that feeling with a powerful truth: God sees you exactly where you are. You are not hidden. You are not overlooked. You are not drifting without purpose.
The heart of Peter’s message is this: God’s awareness of us is not passive; it is personal, intentional, and sustaining. Even when life scatters us into situations we didn’t plan, God doesn’t lose track of where we are or who we’re becoming. Peter doesn’t write as someone trying to motivate people with empty words; he writes as someone who has been restored, forgiven, and commissioned by Jesus Himself. His confidence comes from experience. And what he wants us to grasp is simple yet life-changing: Your current season has not confused God. Your hope is still alive. Your purpose is still active. Your story is still unfolding under His care.
This is the doorway into our reflection and prayer, recognizing that God’s attention is already on us and His new life is already at work within us.

Reflection

Peter speaks with the heart of someone who knows what it feels like to be chosen, supported, and deeply loved by God. His tone is confident and warm, reminding believers that even when they feel scattered, overlooked, or alone, God sees each of them. Peter wants his readers to know that their identity isn’t shaped by where they are or what they face, but by the God who called them. His words carry the energy of someone amazed by God’s mercy and excited about the new life God gives through Jesus. He encourages us to see ourselves not as lost or forgotten, but as intentionally watched over, cared for, and filled with purpose.
  • Where is God inviting you to…?
  • What’s one act of obedience you can take today?

Where do we go from here?

From here, we move forward, remembering that God has already placed His hand on our lives. We choose to live each day with the awareness that we are not accidental people in accidental places; we are known, guided, and strengthened by God’s Spirit. The next step is to lean into the new life Jesus has given us: to trust Him more deeply, to obey Him more faithfully, and to expect good things from Him with renewed hope. Our future is not defined by our challenges but by the God who walks with us through them. So we move ahead with courage, gratitude, and anticipation of what God will unfold next.
