Grace To Become
Today’s Community Scripture – 1/31/2025
When Moses told all of this to the People of Israel, they mourned long and hard. But early the next morning they started out for the high hill country, saying, “We’re here; we’re ready—let’s go up and attack the land that God promised us. We sinned, but now we’re ready.” But Moses said, “Why are you crossing God’s command yet again? This won’t work. Don’t attack. God isn’t with you in this—you’ll be beaten badly by your enemies. The Amalekites and Canaanites are ready for you and they’ll kill you. Because you have left off obediently following God, God is not going to be with you in this.” But they went anyway; recklessly and arrogantly they climbed to the high hill country. But the Chest of the Covenant and Moses didn’t budge from the camp. The Amalekites and the Canaanites who lived in the hill country came out of the hills and attacked and beat them, a rout all the way down to Hormah.
Numbers 14:39–45 (MSG)
– Reflection:
Grace To Become
God had given the Israelites a remarkable opportunity to enter the Promised Land, providing them with the power to overcome their challenges and the strength to defeat their enemies. He promised them victory, but when they encountered the giants and fortified cities, they refused to move forward and instead chose to turn back into the wilderness. They did not understand that this opportunity had closed, and that if they attempted to succeed on their own, they would face defeat.
– Where do we go from here?
It’s crucial not to postpone what you know God is urging you to do. God will always provide both the opportunity and the grace to follow through. When you feel that prompting or conviction—whether it’s about breaking a bad habit or pursuing something that seems daunting—delaying can lead to missed chances. That moment won’t last forever. You may feel afraid, and your mind might present all the reasons why it won’t work out. Don’t follow in the footsteps of the Israelites. Instead, stand tall, hold your head high, and take that step forward.
Our Prayer for Today
Father, thank You for the moments of grace that You reveal in the routine of our ordinary days. Thank You for orchestrating opportunities that empower us to rise above our circumstances. We declare that we will embrace these moments and receive Your promises. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
