Today’s Community Scripture – 7/23/2024

– Scripture:

I know how great this makes you feel, even though you have to put up with every kind of aggravation in the meantime. Pure gold put in the fire comes out of it proved pure; genuine faith put through this suffering comes out proved genuine. When Jesus wraps this all up, it’s your faith, not your gold, that God will have on display as evidence of his victory.

                            1 Peter 1:3-7 MSG

– Reflection:

               Reach for New Life

There is a chance for a new life each and every day that we are awakened. I will never ask someone to do anything that I wouldn’t do or am comfortable with. Everyone is not ready to accept their fate and begin their walk, so it is up to us to encourage those who are ready and be sure to support those who have started their walk and new life. Christ is a true man, just like all of our grandfathers, Pop-pops, and Paw Paws. With that, for all of us following him, he wants us to hold our own weight. On our walks he will ask us different things because we are different and on different paths. Listen when he speaks is all I ask.

Where do we go from here?

Listen, pay attention, and move in the direction he has you pointed in. Procrastination is not our friend and can steal any dream, or continuation of work that we are currently trying to complete. He will give us gentle nudges, but he will not move you into the space; you will need to do that. If there a few extra unwanted pounds, you are going to have to do the work to get it off and keep it off, if you want that degree, you are going to have to do the job to complete it. He will show you the path that he placed in you at birth it is up to us to accept it and walk it.

Our Prayer for Today

Father, thank you for allowing us this wonderful day to walk in your presence and learn what you want us to do. Each day we wake, we get closer to what we are designed for. We will continue to seek you in everything we do. In Jesus’ name, we say, Amen.

Today’s Community Scripture – 7/22/2024

– Scripture:

‘Balaam said to Balak, “Didn’t I tell you up front when you sent your emissaries, ‘Even if Balak gave me his palace stuffed with silver and gold, I couldn’t do anything on my own, whether good or bad, that went against God ’s command’? I’m leaving for home and my people, but I warn you of what this people will do to your people in the days to come.” Then he spoke his oracle-message: Decree of Balaam son of Beor, decree of the man with 20/20 vision, Decree of the man who hears godly speech, who knows what’s going on with the High God, Who sees what The Strong God reveals, who bows in worship and sees what’s real. I see him, but not right now, I perceive him, but not right here; A star rises from Jacob a scepter from Israel, Crushing the heads of Moab, the skulls of all the noisy windbags; I see Edom sold off at auction, enemy Seir marked down at the flea market, while Israel walks off with the trophies. A ruler is coming from Jacob who’ll destroy what’s left in the city. * * *

                                Numbers 24:15 MSG

– Reflection:

God’s Plan Will Always Be Fulfilled

Balaam made this prediction of Jesus’ birth 1,400 years before it happened. At that time, the nation of Moab was afraid of the approaching Israelites because of their power. Balak, the king of Moab, tried to use the sorcerer Balaam to negotiate with God, but God’s will could not be negotiated. Although Balak wanted Balaam to curse the Israelites, God used Balaam to bless them and make a prophecy about the Messiah instead. Even though we may not know all the details of a person’s existence, God does, and that’s what matters. If you come from a difficult background, God knows and will help you through it. Prophets may not be as well-known as they were in the past, but occasionally, an elder may have a message that aligns perfectly with a person’s life. Your life is already planned, and you need to honor the Creator and follow the path he has set for you.

Where do we go from here?

The star did come out of Jacob because Jacob fathered Joseph, and Joseph fathered Jesus, the Messiah. A star hung in the sky above Jesus after His birth (Matthew 2:1-2, 9-11), prompting the wise men to follow the signal and find the King of the Jews, the scepter risen out of Israel. God’s plan will always be fulfilled, as is evident throughout history. Though we do not know how He hangs the stars in the sky, we can know Who the Bright Morning Star is through studying His Word. Holy Father, let us not negotiate with You and instead honor Your Word with our lives so Your will can be done.

Our Prayer for Today

“Father, thank you for the opportunity to be like a grain of sand on your beach. Even though we are washed and thrown around throughout our lives, you know the reasons why. When the time is right, you will place us in the right place to become the pearls we need to be. Allow us to honor you daily with our praise and worship. Amen.”

Today’s Community Scripture – 7/19/2024

– Scripture:

‘What I’m getting at, friends, is that you should simply keep on doing what you’ve done from the beginning. When I was living among you, you lived in responsive obedience. Now that I’m separated from you, keep it up. Better yet, redouble your efforts. Be energetic in your life of salvation, reverent and sensitive before God. That energy is God’s energy, an energy deep within you, God himself willing and working at what will give him the most pleasure. ‘

                                  Philippians 2:12 MSG

– Reflection:

Do you have a Desire for your Destiny

It’s one thing to desire to live for God and do what pleases Him, but God doesn’t stop there. He says, “I will give you the power to do it. I will give you the favor, courage, skill, and resources you need.” You’re going to feel strength that you’ve never felt before, ability that you’ve never had, and favor like you’ve never seen. God doesn’t just give you the desire; He gives you the ability to accomplish what He puts in your heart.

Where do we go from here?

God has destined desires lined up for you things you want to accomplish that He’s placed in your heart. Others may think these desires are too big or don’t make sense, and that’s because God didn’t put those desires in them. However, it’s important to remember that these desires are leading you down the best path – a path of abundance, greater influence, helping more people, making a bigger difference, and seeing your gifts come out in even greater ways. Get ready, because these desires will be stronger than anything that tries to hold you back.

Our Prayer for Today

“Father, thank you for working in me and giving us the desire to do your will, as well as the power to do it. Thank you for giving us the strength to overcome and be disciplined in doing the right thing. We believe you are leading us down the best path for our life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

Today’s Community Scripture – 7/18/2024

– Scripture:

‘Jesus said, “You’re asking the wrong question. You’re looking for someone to blame. There is no such cause-effect here. Look instead for what God can do. We need to be energetically at work for the One who sent me here, working while the sun shines. When night falls, the workday is over. For as long as I am in the world, there is plenty of light. I am the world’s Light.” ‘

                         John 9:3 MSG

– Reflection:

             Working or Watching

Do you ever feel like you spend too much of your life just watching? I mean, what’s your personal ratio of time spent watching to time spent working on things that align with your purpose and passions, such as those things mandated by the two great commandments?

‘Jesus said, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your passion and prayer and intelligence.’ This is the most important, the first on any list. But there is a second to set alongside it: ‘Love others as well as you love yourself.’ These two commands are pegs; everything in God’s Law and the Prophets hangs from them.” ‘

The words above belong to Jesus, not me. We should use him as a guide to discover who we are meant to be.

Where do we go from here?

It can be difficult for many of us, including myself, to grasp the importance of love and faith. However, these values are essential to being a part of the body of Christ. Without them, our efforts are essentially meaningless. Although acknowledging our human nature makes this challenging, there are people who are committed to living in accordance with God’s will and striving to walk with Him each day. This conviction is what motivates me to wake up every morning and strive to fulfill the purpose for which I was created by our Heavenly Father and our Lord and Savior.

Our Prayer for Today

“Father, thank you for another day in your presence. We are all ready to begin our day with you leading us. You sent your son to show us how and left your word for us to follow. Today, we will use those tools to honor you, bring glory to your name, and help those who need us. Amen.”

Today’s Community Scripture – 7/17/2024

Scripture:

I, Jesus, have sent my angel to testify to you about these things for the churches. I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star.

                           Revelations 22:16 MSG

Reflection:

              Bright Morning Star

An angel described heaven to John as a place with a crystal-clear river flowing from God’s throne into a great new city. In this Holy City, nations will be healed, darkness will be erased, and the Tree of Life will produce endless crops. As Christians, we all aspire to go to heaven. But how do we get there? Just like ancient travelers used stars for guidance at night, the bright morning star serves as a signal for a new day, standing out as the brightest star in the sky before morning.

Where do we go from here?

Reading the passages today will represent where we go today.

Our Prayer for Today

Father, thank you for sending us Your Bright Morning Star to keep us focused on Your guidance today. We seek more than just believing in Jesus; we want to move closer to Him, knowing that He will lead us to You. As we journey toward You each day, let us never lose sight of Your Bright Morning Star in the sky until You finally bring the new day.
